What is the weight limit for the Shaka Bike?
Our eBikes are designed to support riders up to 300 lbs.
Is the bike frame adjustable?
The bike frame itself isn’t adjustable, but we offer different sizes and styles to accommodate riders from 4′ to 6’5″. The seat and handlebars are adjustable.
Specifically, the GROM- 24” Step-Through Frame is best suited for riders 5’2″ or shorter.
What handlebar options are available?
You can choose from Standard, Ape Hangers, BMX, and Mountain handlebars.
Can I upgrade the bike or get replacement parts?
Yes, we offer various upgrades to customize your Shaka bike and provide replacement parts for easy maintenance.
How much does the Shaka Bike weigh?
The bike weighs about 48 lbs.
Is the Shaka bike suitable for off-road trails?
The Shaka bike is primarily designed for urban and beach environments but can handle light trails.
How fast does the Shaka Surf Bike go?
Our eBike beach cruiser has a top speed of 22 mph. Please note due to local regulations, bikes may have speed limiter enabled to limit speed to 20 mph.
What color options are available for the frame, chain guard, fenders, tires, and seat?
- Frame, Chain Guard, and Fenders: Black, Charcoal, White, Bubblegum Pink,Gunmetal Blue, Brown, Yellow, Turquoise, Purple, Red, Green, Light Blue, Vintage Green.
- Tires : Standard 2x125" and Wide 3" options in Black, White Wall, Grey, Blue, White, Brown,Yellow. White Wall is available only for standard wheels.
- Saddle : Black, Blue, Brown, White, Yellow, Grey.
What frame sizes and styles are offered?
We offer three frame options:
- The OG - 26” Step-Over Frame
- The Nug - 26” Step-Thru Frame
- The GROM - 24” Step-Thru Frame
How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?
The battery lasts for approximately 500 cycles, which means it can be fully charged and discharged 500 times before its capacity decreases. You charge the battery using the dedicated charger that comes with the bike; simply plug it into a standard wall outlet.
What safety features does the Shaka bike have?
The bike includes integrated headlights, tail lights, reflectors, and other safety features to ensure visibility and safety.
What does "500 cycles" mean regarding battery life?
"500 cycles" refers to the battery’s ability to be fully charged and discharged 500 times beforeits capacity starts to diminish. Partial charges also count toward this total.
Is assembly required?
Our bikes come mostly assembled, with any remaining setup being straightforward andaccompanied by user-friendly instructions.
What is the range of the eBike beach cruiser on a single charge?
The range of our eBike beach cruiser can vary based on factors such as battery size, riderweight, terrain, and riding style. On average, it can travel up to approximately 40 miles on asingle charge when using pedal assist (PAS).
Is the Shaka Surf Bike beach cruiser water-resistant or waterproof?
Our eBike beach cruiser is built to withstand splashes and light rain thanks to its water-resistant design. Our wires are all enclosed within the frame of the bike which helps prevent corrosion. However, it is not fully waterproof, and we recommend avoiding submerging the bike or exposing it to heavy rain for extended periods.
What is the difference between the 36v/10ah and 48v/10ah batteries?
The 48v/10ah battery provides about 20% more range than the 36v/10ah battery, allowing forlonger rides. It might also be slightly heavier and more expensive.
Can I use the bike in the rain?
Yes, the Shaka bike is designed to handle various weather conditions, but it's best to avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
What is the difference between a chain drive and a belt drive?
A chain drive uses metal links and requires regular maintenance, while a belt drive uses a carbon-fiber-reinforced belt, which is cleaner and quieter but can be more costly to replace.
What is pedal assist, and what modes does the bike offer?
Pedal assist provides additional power from the motor when you pedal, making riding easier, especially on inclines. The bike offers five levels of pedal assist, including turning it off.
Note:Pedal assist is currently an option with bikes while throttle is standard.
Can I make changes to my bike customization after placing an order?
You can make changes to your customization before completing checkout. If you’ve already paid, please email us with the details of the changes, and we will assist you in updating your order.
Please note that changes to customization will only be accepted up to two business days after purchase and all changes are subject to company approval.
Orders, Shipping & Returns
What is the return policy?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt if items are new and unused. A 20% restocking fee applies to stock bikes and accessories. Customized bikes, used or damaged items, batteries, and items returned without prior authorization are non-refundable.
Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless there was a shipping error. Refunds are processed after inspecting the returned item. All returns must be prepaid, and Shaka is not responsible for damage or loss during return shipping.
What items are non-refundable?
The following items are non-refundable:
- Items returned more than 30 days after the receipt date.
- Bikes that have been customized with specific colors or accessories.
- Items that are used, dirty, damaged, or not in their original packaging.
- Batteries
- Items returned without prior written confirmation of return from a Shaka employee.
- Any special offers or sales with specific terms that indicate finality.
How does the warranty work?
We offer a 2-year warranty covering any manufacturing defects. Warranty is activated upon receiving and registering your bike on our website.
What about shipping?
We ship nationwide with shipping costs based on your location. There are no markup or handling fees.
Can I pick up my bike order in person?
Yes, you can pick up your bike. Please email us at team@shakasurfbike.com to arrange your pickup.
Is the company veteran-owned?
Yes, one of our founders is a US Navy veteran with over 20 years of service. We are in the process of securing our SDVOSB status.
